Janie Olsen - born and raised in Western Washington, currently has her home & studio in Monroe Washington. Her acrylic paintings can be whimsical, mystical at times, or just simply there. A continual daydreamer, passionately attracted to fairy tales, nature, romance, the notion of opposites–good, evil, chaos, ugly, beautiful on and on.

There is usually some sort of story behind each painting. The hope is to make people smile or wonder when viewing her paintings.

Having painted all her life she says “it is a spiritual, driving force within myself”.

Inspiration comes from nature, animals, music, poetry, and stories.

Realizing art was going to be one of the main the focuses of her life she graduated from The Burnley School of Professional Art, where she studied design and illustration.

Working as a graphic designer during the day, she paints in the evenings and every other spare moment-making her somewhat of a recluse. Her head is filled with ideas and she is constantly sketching and thinking of her next painting-- like the Bob Dylan song says-“Someday, everything is gonna be smooth like a rhapsody, When I paint my masterpiece”.

Janie has work in several private collections, on-going work with Schack Art Center of Everett WA, Gallery by the Bay, Stanwood WA, and Carnation Corners, Carnation WA. She also participates in local events throughout the year as listed below.
